TKO – Bankruptcy Court Knocks Out Boxer’s Attempt to Cancel Don King Productions’ Contract
August 4, 2021 ⏤ The Los Angeles Bankruptcy Court dismissed “for cause” the bankruptcy case filed by heavyweight boxer Christopher Lovejoy (19 wins and 1 loss), granting the motion to dismiss filed by BG Law client Don King Productions. According to Partner Jerrold L. Bregman, who handled the matter, the motion argued the boxer filed bankruptcy for the “improper purpose of escaping his legal obligations to Don King Productions even though he was not suffering from financial distress.” The case is In re Lovejoy, in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California, Case No. 2:21-BK-12324-NB.
