Jerrold Bregman Comments on the National Association of Realtors’ New Regulations in the Chicago Sun Times

Jerrold Bregman recently spoke to the Chicago Sun Times about the two major changes to the National Association of Realtors’ rules for signing commission agreements. As of August, buyers and real estate agents now sign a contract disclosing the broker’s commission before the buyer is shown homes, and broker commissions are no longer displayed on the multiple listing service.

These changes are meant to benefit home buyers, but many consumers are left confused about how it affects them. In the article, Jerry explains that empowering consumers will be beneficial across the board.

“With buyers and sellers having increased bargaining power, these changes will likely lead to lower negotiated fixed commission rates,” he tells the Chicago Sun Times. “This will likely spur activity once interest rates drop enough to entice homeowners with ‘golden handcuffs’ to bring their homes to market.”
