Jeff Kobulnick Named Candidate for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Man of the Year Award
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Greater Los Angeles Chapter (“LLS”) has nominated BG Law Partner Jeff Kobulnick as a candidate for its 2013 Man of the Year Award. The Man & Woman of the Year campaign is a fundraising competition among a select group of individuals in the community. While each candidate conducts their own campaign, all candidates are united by one goal: to use their leadership skills to raise funds to help blood cancer patients live longer and more fulfilling lives.
By accepting the nomination, Jeff and the other candidates will have 10 weeks, beginning April 1, 2013, to accumulate the most “votes.” Every dollar raised counts as one vote. The male and female candidates who raised the most votes during the campaign are named the chapter’s Man & Woman of the Year at the Grand Finale. Their totals are then considered for the national title.
Candidates run in honor of the Boy & Girl of the Year, who are local blood cancer patient survivors and sources of inspiration. The Boy & Girl of the Year represent the thousands of patients that have been helped by LLS’ patient services and research. This year’s Boy of the Year is 4-year old Nathaniel Loomis, who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) when he was just 2 years old. While Nate still continues to get regular chemotherapy treatments and spinal taps, his doctors are amazed by his progress and are confident that he will win his battle.
Jeff was selected as a candidate based on his longstanding significant commitment and demonstrated leadership in other fundraising campaigns for LLS. Since Jeff’s first involvement with LLS almost ten years ago, he founded and has served as a captain of three Light The Night Walk teams, including the first ever national law firm team in the country which, under his leadership, walked and raised money in over a dozen cities. To date, Jeff’s Light the Night Walk teams have raised over $100,000 and awareness for LLS and its continuing fight against blood cancers. In 2012, Jeff also served as the Campaign Manager for his wife’s successful participation in LLS’s Team in Training campaign.
