Jessica Bagdanov is a partner at BG and has comprehensive insolvency and restructuring experience, at both the bankruptcy court and appellate court levels. She consistently represents chapter 7 trustees and receivers, as well as both debtors and creditors in chapter 11 matters. Jessica has significant business litigation experience, having conducted numerous trials and evidentiary hearings before the bankruptcy court. She routinely manages litigation matters from start to finish and argues appeals at all stages. She mentors newer members of the firm and takes great pride in working to make BG a more diverse and inclusive firm.
Prior to joining the firm, Jessica clerked for the Honorable Ellen Carroll (retired) and the Honorable Robert N. Kwan (retired) of the Los Angeles Division of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California. Additionally, Jessica worked as a Staff Attorney for the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel for the United States Court of Appeals of the Ninth Circuit.
Jessica is an active member of the local insolvency community, presently serving as the Education Subcommittee Chair of the Insolvency Law Committee and as an Associate Editor of the Business Law News section of the California Lawyers Association. Jessica is a proven leader in numerous organizations, including the California Bankruptcy Forum (CBF) where she served as Conference Co-Chair (2022), Education Co-Chair (2020-2021), and Young Insolvency Professionals (YIP) Co-Chair (2019). She remains active in other organizations as well, having served the Los Angeles Bankruptcy Forum (Board Member 2019-2023) and the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation (Secretary 2015-2017). Jessica was named a “Top Bankruptcy Lawyer” by the Los Angeles and San Francisco Daily Journal (2022), has been recognized as a Southern California Rising Star by Super Lawyers from 2015-2023, and has been named among the “Best Lawyers in America” since 2018. She is routinely asked to speak on panels regarding bankruptcy and insolvency-related topics.
